How do I use Fuzzy to get my pet’s prescriptions?
Refilling your pet’s prescriptions with Fuzzy is simple. Just upload a clear, digital image of the prescription through the Fuzzy App or your web browser at Fuzzy.com. Then our Vet Team will review your request, which takes between 24 and 48 hours. Once approved, you’ll receive a link to where you can add your pet’s medication to your cart and purchase.
Getting a new prescription is easy, too. If you live in a state where you can receive prescription medication via telemedicine, all you need to do is use the Fuzzy App to speak with a vet. One of our vets will conduct a digital physical exam, listen to your concerns, and then decide if medication is needed. Your pet must be present for our staff to prescribe medication.
Am I able to get new prescriptions through Fuzzy?
The ability to prescribe virtually in the U.S. varies state by state. We’re currently working with local officials to deliver virtual prescription services to pet parents in all 50 States.
If your state allows medications to be prescribed virtually, you can use the Fuzzy App to speak with a veterinarian who will conduct a digital physical exam and, if needed, can prescribe medication for your pet. Your pet must be present during your consultation for a new prescription.
If your state does not allow virtual prescribing, you can contact a Fuzzy Vet who can answer your pet health questions without stepping foot in the vet’s office. You can also use Fuzzy to refill any current medications your pet needs, and we will contact your vet to get your request approved and your items shipped.
Is it legal to get a new prescription virtually for my pet?
It depends on where you live. The biggest deciding factor is whether your state allows for veterinary-client-patient relationships (VCPR) to be established using electronic means.
We’re working closely with local officials to provide the best virtual care in every state. If you’d like to get involved, contact your veterinary state board to let them know that this is something that you want for your pet.
What type of medications can Fuzzy prescribe and/or refill?
Fuzzy Vets can prescribe a wide range of commercial medications that are normally available in-clinic. For example, we commonly prescribe medication for flea and tick prevention, pain relief, digestive support, or skin and coat treatment. We are also able to order compounded medications, made especially for your pet, as well.
Do I need to have my pet’s prescriptions handy in order to be refilled?
Yes. In order to refill your pet’s medications, we require a clear, digital image of the prescription and authorization from your vet. Please submit your pet’s prescription as a PDF, PNG, or JPEG file. If you do not have the prescription, you can consult with a Fuzzy team member who can assist you.
What if I don’t have a vet?
That’s okay. A lot of people don’t have a vet. If you live in a state that allows vets to see patients via telemedicine appointments, Fuzzy can generate a prescription for your pet if our vets feel they need one.
If you are not in a state that allows us to write a prescription for your pet, we will connect you with one of our in-person care partners to get your pet the care they need.
What if I have questions about my pet’s medication?
Whether you acquired your pet’s medications through Fuzzy or elsewhere, you can always reach out to our Vet Team by downloading the Fuzzy App, logging in, or creating an account, and starting a chat or video consultation.
Where does Fuzzy source available prescription items?
We have several online and human pharmacy options available for pets. They are all FDA-accredited pharmacies and only utilized responsibly acquired medications.
Will this replace all in-person veterinary visits?
No, but Fuzzy is a great place to start. Not every issue requires a trip to the vet, and we can help decide if you really need to go or if there’s a simple at-home solution. For example, some cases are straightforward and just need a doctor’s eyes to reach a diagnosis. Some cases are not straightforward, or we feel that they would best benefit from an in-person exam. If so, we'll refer your pet in for a hands-on exam.
What is VCPR and how does it apply to telemedicine?
The veterinarian-client-patient relationship (VCPR) is a vet service industry standard and is protected by certain state and federal laws. The relationship is established when the vet and the pet parent decide that the pet needs to be treated. Through VCPR, the vet is accountable for providing the pet’s medical care, including diagnosing, giving relevant recommendations and treatment options, and prescribing medicine.
Some states allow VCPR to be established via telemedicine services like Fuzzy, which can result in a prescription if needed. In other states, only in-person appointments can result in a new prescription.
What do I do if my state does not allow VCPR to be established remotely?
If your state does not allow VCPR to be established virtually, you can still use Fuzzy to chat with a vet for any general questions related to your pet’s health and wellness. From nutrition to dental hygiene to stress management, our vet team is here 24/7 to answer your questions.
What happens after my pet’s prescriptions get approved?
We will contact you with a link to purchase your prescription in the Fuzzy App. Once the payment is processed, we’ll send your pet’s medication right to your door via standard next-day shipping.
What is the typical turnaround time for prescriptions?
The typical time for prescriptions is 48 hours. In some cases, based on your location, you may receive medications the same day or 72 hours at the latest.
How do I track my order?
What if I’m traveling and I need a prescription for my pet?
If you are traveling in a state that allows prescribing virtually, you can use the Fuzzy App to speak with a veterinarian who will conduct a digital physical exam and can prescribe medication for your pet if necessary. Your pet must be present during your consultation for a new prescription and medications must be shipped to an address in a prescribing state.
If you are visiting a state that does not allow virtual prescribing, we can ship your pet’s existing medications to your home address once you have uploaded your pet’s prescription on the Fuzzy App. We cannot generate new prescriptions.
Consult a Fuzzy Vet if you’re not sure whether the state you’re traveling in allows prescribing virtually.
